Calm during the darkest times — Amidst COVID-19

Nature in peace

This is what I wrote in a deep crisis back on march 29th 2020

It is amazing how beautiful these last two weeks have been in Finland. I woke up this morning again, to find a beautiful blue sky, to hear the sound of nature, and peace… everything seemed so beautiful; so calm — all, amidst what is happening around the world.

The world is crashing, or at least the western world is, and meanwhile, in nature, everything seems the same, or at least, calmer. I have never paid so much attention to two squirrels chasing each other. Even the birds seemed happy, that is, because I live in the middle of the forest. It reminds me of my nephews. They seem super happy:

  • They see their friends on Whatsapp.
  • They get to spend more time with their parents.
  • They know they will get something to eat.
  • They know they will have more time to play.
  • They do not have to go to school.

So, yes, they are as happy as the squirrels I saw this morning playing.

On the other hand, in our human cities, even the birds and doves are confused. I am guessing they are wondering… where are all these people that leave pieces of everything in the street? They know something is up, and make no mistake, I am…
